Exhibition in Nola Hatterman Art Academy, Suriname

As of today the first big overview exhibition in Suriname, at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy in Paramaribo, is open for the public. A total of 36 original portraits – pen/pencil/watercolors on paper – can be seen here. Also, this exhibition features the first installation of the finished ‘mamyo’, a canvas textile art work with thirty quotes from the interviewees, about what Keti Koti, i.e. the abolishment og slavery by the Dutch in the Caribbeans, means to them. Each quote has been painted in different pieces of cotton, with personalized ink made by me, with meaningful materials.

Open: January 18th-29th, Mon-Fri, 9-12Am and 2-7PM
Adress Abraham Crijnssenweg 6, Fort Zeelandia Complex, Paramaribo, Suriname
Entrance Free

As a ‘finissage’ I will be giving a private portrait art workshop to students of the academy on Monday 29th. An impression of this workshop will be posted on this website, later on.
