Make your own paint from indigo, turmeric, coffee, grass and ‘kusuwe’ (annatto): blue, yellow, brown, green and red. Then paint your own Bigi Spikri with it.
Today we, Noémi Beyer and I, gave our second workshop at of SBO Het Spectrum IJburg, for Keti Koti Junior. Inspired by my book ALA SMA TORI – Keti Koti Verbeelding and more. Commissioned by De Rode Loper op School, NiNsee en Wereldmuseum Amsterdam.
We talked about the history/origin of the raw materials used for the paint, smelled them, mixed them with water. Then we read from ‘Een vrolijke op tocht met Keti Koti’ (A cheerful parade on Keti Koti’) by Henna Goudzand and talked about it with the children.
Finally, each child made their own painting with the paint. We all enjoyed it so much!!
