I’m going to Suriname from February 3rd – 13th and I’m taking with me … nine original, framed portraits, from my Keti Koti Project and from the book I made about it: ALA SMA TORI – Keti Koti Verbeeld (publisher LM Publishers). To give to CAMM, the museum for modern art in Moengo, Marowijne. All portrayed people have their roots here.

An addition to the installation of the exhibition that I left behind last year. It fills me with joy to bring these portraits to this place.

On February 8th, I will also be working together with Rinaldo Klas, in the patio of Readytex Art Gallery, on my new theme in various disciplines (collage/drawings, ceramics, oil paintings) ‘Mama Aisa – Mother Earth’, which ties in with the work of Rinaldo Klas. Rinaldo and I will be painting with acrylic. We collaborated before, on the (recently sold) painting FIRE (2019) and the duo-exhibition ‘Bezielde Lijnen (Soulful Lines)’ in that same year in Readytex Art Gallery. The next collaboration was in 2022 in BijlmAIR, the artist residency of CBK Zuidoost Amsterdam. This was also with artist Moritz Ebinger.
