A Wedding Portrait Reconstructed

A commissioned portrait (pen and water color, 40 x 30 cm) of the parents and their children on their wedding day. A friend of the bride asked me to make this family portrait as a surprise present for the recently married woman’s birthday, as due to circumstances most pictures the photographer had taken had gone wrong. Such a nice idea of her friend and so sweet!
I made this painting by using a number of available pictures, either from the wedding day or from different occasions, as a reference.
The wedding ceremony took place in the botanical garden of Paramaribo (Surinam); in the evening the family wore black Nike Jordan’s sneakers at the party. The painting is a combination of both scenes, the family is dancing together in between the palm leaves.
