Children’s posters for Keti Koti

A selection of posters, made by the children of group 8A and 8B (=grade 6) of IBS Al Jawhara, Amsterdam East. There are many more in total, and we, Noémi Beyer and me, thought they were all beautiful.
This is the final result of a series of three lessons for children about Keti Koti, ‘Keti Koti Junior’ an initiative of art and edication centre De Rode Loper op School, Ninsee and the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam. The first, introductory lesson was provided by the Wereldmuseum Amsterdam.
The next two, creative lessons, were based on my book ALA SMA TORI – Keti Koti Verbeeld and were taught by Noémi and me.
The ‘paint’ that was used to color the posters was made from products that relate to the stories of the people interviewed in my book; I used all kinds of ink in this book to give extra meaning to the interviews by means of texts on cotton.
In this case the colors yellow, blue, green, brown and orange-red were painted; made from turmeric, blueing material, (wheat) grass, coffee and koeswe (annatto seeds).
