Arizona Highways
Here are the posters / flyers that so far I designed for our band Arizona Highways. Right below you can see one example of the first series of posters, all based on the beautiful collage Arizona Holiday, by Vivienne Strauss. On the top left the two latest for ¡Club Fantasma! and in between these are the posters that were based on old covers from the American magazine Arizona Highways, where our band has been named after.
¡Club Fantasma!
As of this Spring 2018, we decided to organize a different kind of evenings in the Amsterdam Torpedo Theater. Instead of inviting bands who play acoustic Folk & Indie music, we now organize evenings in which all kinds of arts and science (poetry, cinema, biology, visual arts, photography, astronomy, you name it, may come together, at the opening of each new season, and with a fitting theme. The posters for ¡Club Fantasma! are based on my own collage art. Tuesday June 26th, the Summer theme is ‘traveling’.
Our guests will be:
– Gertie Jaquet, illustrator, with her latest stamp art project and with some of her favorite movie scenes.
– Mira Thompson, singer songwriter, will sing (with Caroline Verheus on the guitar) and will talk about her project ‘Mira Canta’.
– Hein Aalders, literary scholar, will present and read poetry from a new, totally updated edition of J. Slauerhoffs collected poems.
– And our band Arizona Highways will perform our own version of songs by Tom Waits, Natalie Merchant, Bob Dylan, First Aid Kit and others. Introducing our newest band member Mirjam Slewe on the violin.
