FINO ALL’ ARCADIA

Linocut artist Edith Brouwer and I are cooperating on a new project: FINO ALL ‘ARCADIA. We have both learned the Italian language and we love the country, the culture, the people and the food. Edith and I will make art on pages from a book (1909) with Italian poetry from the 15th and 16th centuries. It belonged to my grandfather Opa Henni. Edith makes linocuts, while I make watercolor drawings. Three pages of those pages with will be presented in a unique cahier made from catalogs of the same period as the poetry book of the then named Museum Boymans in Rotterdam.

“il vento” and “canzonetta” – artwork for our first cahier – SOLD

A three-page cahier with 13×18 cm watercolor drawings and linocut prints costs €95 euros. The first one is now for sale. In the coming months we will display and offer more of those for sale. It is also possible to have your own cahier made on commission. You can give us a word, whether in Dutch, English or Italian and we will make one especially for you, with three pages of art on Italian poetry, inspired by your word. The works of art in the first cahier (sold) are “il vento” (a single page) and “canzonetta” (a double page) (see above). Below you can see the book, the catalog, some examples of cahiers and my tin boxes with buttons and silk threads that we use to bind the cahiers with. If you are interested in a cahier, you can contact or Edith Brouwer or me at mjaquet@xs4all.nl.
