As of Saturday May 8th in the new issue of Z!, The Amsterdam Street Paper, half a page with a large photo of mine from our art book Iepenstad (Elm city). In honor of Ronald, I will add the accompanying poem, with a translationinto English for the non Dutch readers:

Amsterdam

75,000 elms in a city
A forest a wood that overgrows us
And yet it does not strike me that much
I do see them but they are alll different
Red yellow green big or small
Old and young, but all still trees
That are living around me
Only when the elm seeds are floating through the air
Or are accumulating on my doorstep
And thousands of seeds are blowing through the streets
I say how beautiful, these trees

Amsterdam

75.000 iepen in een stad
Een bos een woud dat ons overwoekert
En toch valt het me niet zo op
Ik zie ze maar ze zijn telkens weer andersRood geel groen groot of klein
Oud en jong maar het blijven bomen
En ze leven allemaal om me heen
Pas als de iepenzaden door de lucht zweven
Of zich ophopen in mijn portiek
En door de straten duizenden zaden waaien
Zeg ik mooi die bomen
